Jaw crushers are the most common primary crusher employed in mining and mineral processing. Inside the feed chute a stationary jaw plate serves as a backing, while a swing jaw or toggling jaw plate impacts the stationary plate to crush rocks and discharge them from the bottom of the machine. Jaw crushers have a closed side that can be adjusted, and the open side can typically accept rocks that are roughly 80% the size of the opening.
