The cone crusher is an important machine in the mining and aggregates industries, and is most commonly used a secondary and/or tertiary crusher. Often, standard heads are used as secondary crushers, and shortheads are used as tertiary crushers that produce a finer product. Cone crushers are relatively simple and economic machines to accomplish size reduction. A steel head rotates on an eccentric wobble that allows feed to enter from the primary crusher and be crushed as it is compressed against the walls of the cone. Modern machines come equipped with hydraulic tramp release and adjust systems as well as other features that protect the crusher from uncrushable tramp metals and other materials that may enter the circuit. Many older cones crusher machines from brands like Symons and Nordberg are still in high demand, and can be refurbished and upgraded with modern technology at a lower cost and with faster delivery than a new manufacture.
